In the beginning there was the chef knife, then, the Santoku knife, and now, CUTCO delivers a line of Santoku-Style knives that put a new twist on the tradition.

CUTCO Cutlery, the largest manufacturer of kitchen cutlery in the United States, has added three new knives to its product line, all designed in the style of a santoku knife. The new Santoku-Style Cheese Knife, Santoku-Style Trimmer and Santoku-Style Paring Knife bring a new dimension to CUTCO’s cutlery line.

Here are some of the features you’ll notice with these new knives.

The Santoku-Style Cheese Knife is smaller than CUTCO’s traditional Cheese Knife with a 3 3/4″ blade and a slightly smaller ergonomic handle. Its dropped point is ideal for opening packages of cheese and works well for breaking off chunks of harder cheeses like Parmesan. The knife is great for cutting smaller blocks of cheese and is perfect for setting out on a plate or cutting board to allow guests to slice cheese to the size of their liking. Retail price: $58

The Santoku-Style Trimmer is very similar to CUTCO’s existing Trimmer. The blade has a dropped point and measures 4 7/8″, making it a great sandwich knife. The knife also works well cutting and trimming small to medium-sized fruits and veggies. It makes short work of tomatoes, cucumbers, baguettes and sandwich rolls. Retail price: $54

The Santoku-Style Paring Knife has a 3 1/8″ blade and a dropped point. As with our other paring knives this knife is perfect for paring fruits and vegetables, and creating decorative garnishes. If you like to use your Paring Knife holding the food in one hand and cutting against your thumb, this knife offers a lot of edge for its size. Retail price: $52

We will also be introducing our Signature Cutlery Set which is being introduced in mid-June. The set is customizable, allowing cutomers some flexability to choose which knives they’d like to include in the block. It holds 13 pieces of cutlery and includes 10 table knives, Super Shears (kitchen shears), a sharpener and three cutting boards. Retail price: $1,479.
